To do this, expectations are set when it comes to the number of deficiencies identified when the final punch list is completed for a unit, when the QA Manager completes a homeowner walkthrough, when the keys are handed over to the homeowner as well as when the 3 and 11-month deficiency reports are submitted by the homeowners post occupancy.
As Infinity’s Quality Assurance Technician, they will be reporting to Infinity’s Quality Assurance Manger and supporting them in their role to meet Infinity’s expectations for construction quality and number of deficiencies in the units they turn over to their customers. The following is a non-exhaustive list of items that they would be responsible for:
QA Inspections & Deficiency Completion and/or Coordination
In order that Infinity can deliver the ultimate product they want and are proud of and in order that the number of deficiencies found during the final QA walkthrough prior to key hand over, a detailed QA process must be followed which includes an extensive list of inspections for the various subtrades and scopes of work included in the construction of a unit. The QA Technician will be responsible for the following items in regards to this process:
- Complete understanding of all of Infinity’s processes for quality control and quality assurance
- Full knowledge of Infinity’s scopes of work for each subtrade involved in the construction of a unit
- Good understanding of Infinity’s quality standards for each subcontractor’s scope of work

Post Occupancy Warranty & Deficiency Work
While it extremely important to build quality product, it is equally important to ensure that the customers needs are taken care of after they have moved in. Construction is an imperfect process with imperfect materials and subtrades meaning that no matter how much time you spend prior to the completion of a home, there will undoubtably be deficiencies in the product during the warranty period for the home. The QA Technician’s role post occupancy includes the following items:
- Full knowledge of the warranty requirements for residential construction in BC
- Coordination of 3-month and 11-month deficiencies for units
- Assessing if stated deficiencies are warrantable
- Problem solving common construction issues found in units
- Completion of minor deficiency repairs
- Coordination of subtrades for deficiency work
- Supporting QA Manager in the completion of post occupancy deficiency reports for sites
- Updating scopes of work and process to assist in lower deficiencies on future projects
Other
There will be times where due to Infinity’s project workflow the level of QA work may provide for less than full time work for the QA team. When this occurs the QA Technician may be asked to support one of the site teams with the following types of work:
- Complete QA inspections normally required to be completed by site staff (pre-finishing inspections)
- Carpentry Work
- Assistance with furnishing and fixturing for presentation centers or show homes
- Maintenance/repairs items on Infinity owned rental properties
